Welcome to the new Global Wind Day website. It has been redesigned especially for Global Wind Day 2012. A major development in this, the fourth annual Global Wind Day, is an international photo competition on the theme of wind energy entitled Wind in Mind. Open till 6 May, the competition will give great prizes for the best, as well as publicity for the photographers.

We aim to make this the most successful Global Wind Day ever. Last year saw over 230 events around the world, in 40 different countries. From Australia to Japan, the Czech Republic to Ireland, Argentina to Canada, adults and children went to wind farm visits, conferences, photo exhibits, educational activities, art exhibits, kitesurfing and frisbee contests on 15 June 2011. WindMade, a new consumer label was launched in New York, while trips into the North Sea to visit offshore wind farms left from the Netherlands.
