About Global Wind Day
2010 is the second year of cooperation of the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA), which initiated the Wind Day campaign, and the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) in the organisation of the Global Wind Day. Together with many national wind energy associations we coordinate Wind Day events across the globe.
On 15 June 2009, thousands of public events will be organised simultaneously. The Global Wind Day is an awareness campaign for the promotion of wind energy worldwide. The messages are clear: wind energy tackles climate change, it boosts energy independence and it is an intelligent investment.
The 2009 edition was a tremendous success with tens of thousands of people all over the world stressing the enormous benefits of wind power. From China to the Czech Republic, over 300 events and wind activities were organised in 35 different countries around the official Wind Day date of 15 June to spread the positive message about wind power. From wind farm open days, conferences, exhibitions, workshops and information days to regattas, sporting contests and theatre shows, there was something for everyone, everywhere.
